Fracking is the process of extracting fossil fuels from deep underground. Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gases. Fracking is done by first drilling about 7,000ft underground then making a 90 degree turn and continue drilling that way. After that they put fracking fluid in it to get out the fossil fuels. This fracking fluid contains 600 chemicals. 1.5 million gallons of water are used in every fracking site.One of the lines is “there are rivers dying,” representing how when chemicals from fracking get into the water, the animals are poisoned, and so is the water. We hope that our song will make people want to learn more about fracking and how to stop it. We hope we can introduce them to the topic and get them interested in it. We would also like for people to protest against fracking due to its bad impact on the environment. In order to prepare for this presentation, we have been practicing and playing “We Are The World” for weeks. Every music class we went over it at least 3 times. After we finish each verse or chorus, Mr. Shieh would check us off and tell us how we did.
