Artist Statement
Our song, “We Are The World” is a great protest song that raises awareness about the impact that we have on the world. The song suggests that we are the world and we are the children. We are the ones capable of making a difference and the best way to make a difference and help others is to work together towards a common goal. We can make a change if we work together, and as cliche as it sounds, it is true.
As a result of listening to “We Are The World”, we think that people should want to make a change. We have noticed that there is a lot less teamwork and involvement in big issues and we are focused on

independence. We have distracted ourselves with the advancements in technology which is a result of production and consumption. We are so focused on consumerism (Even if we don’t notice it) and are missing out on the negative impacts that it has on the environment. Listening to this song should inspire you to want to change this.

While working on the song “We Are The World”, we had to go through a complicated process. First, we had to get familiar with the song. We listened to it multiple times so that we could understand the tune and rhythm. Then, we began to play it individually so that we could get used to our own parts. After that, we began to work together to combine all of the sounds. It took a while for us to get it together, but eventually, we began to get it one by one. We would work endlessly (or until the period was over) until we thought that we sounded tolerable. Then we worked on making sure that the singing sounded good with the playing. It sounds like a simple process, but it took a while for us to get used to the sound of it and we practiced over and over again even if we liked how we sounded. We worked really hard on our project and that is why we believe that we should receive the prize for music.

New Lyrics

Verse
There comes a time when we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life

The greatest gift of all
We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of a consumerism world
It’s the truth, pollution
Won’t help us succeed

Chorus
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Verse 2
Send them your heart
so they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As we have been told to love and show respect
So we all must lend a helping hand

Bridge
When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Let us realize that a change will only come
When we stand together as one
