October.
This month is all about us as a group. We'll be spending time working on group initiatives and identifying our tendencies in groups, before working to plan a community meeting for the entire 10th grade. |
10th Grade Crew! First Steps.
Welcome! I look forward to creating THE BEST 10TH GRADE CREW AT MELS with you (don't tell the other Crew leaders I said that). By Thursday, make sure that you have (1) returned your blue card, (2) completed the lunch form online (let me know if you need a paper copy!), and (3) gotten yourself a composition notebook for use as a crew journal. Let's do this!! |
Student-Led Conferences
Student-Led Conferences (SLC) for our Crew and Crew families will be held on Monday night, November 19, from 5-8pm, and Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 1-5:30pm. SLCs are mandatory and graded for all students. E-mail or call Mr. Shieh if you have not yet scheduled a conference yet! |
DESIGN.
October for our Crew is all about Design Challenge. Bring your energy and creativity every morning! Also note: 9th grade fieldwork on October 10, and dates of our rock climbing trip to be announced soon! |
9th Grade Crew!
Welcome and welcome back to all Crew students--I can't wait to build a bigger and better Crew with you that will support us through 9th grade. Any students absent in the first week (9/6-9/7) should come the second week with a "Road to 9th Grade" map (ask another Crew member or e-mail Mr. Shieh for details). And remember: turn in those blue cards and lunch forms ASAP! |
Service Learning Projects
Congratulations to Sylvie Williams, Justin Felix, and Sinigdha Biswas for creating the winning proposals for our crew's Service Learning projects. This month, we will be partnering with P.S. 101 and P.S. 117 to find ways to serve our communities, and in particular the elementary schools in District 28. |
Spring SLCs!
Crew: our spring SLC powerpoint template is below to download and use. Parents, SLCs will take place on Tuesday, 2/28 (4:00-7:30pm) and Wednesday, 2/29 (1:00-3:30pm). Please see your child for a scheduling form or e-mail Mr. Shieh directly to reserve your time. |
Don't Drink My Haterade + SLCs
It's true: our crew had the winning design for the 8th grade in the Sustainability Design Challenge. "Blackout Day" will be reviewed by a panel of experts over the next two weeks, along with the 7th and 6th grade winning designs. GO CREW!!! |
