Students are working on rhythms and beats, and will be closing the Expedition with performances of Bruno Mars's "Grenade" and Camila Cabello's "Havana" this week on Thursday and Friday!

Students need to come to class on 2/13 and 2/14 with a copy of their final blues song lyrics!

We are currently writing blues songs in class. Students should come prepared with 6-10 possible lyric lines from the perspective of their chosen character (from Someone Knows My Name/Book of Negroes).

Students should study for the instrument safety test on Thursday and Friday this week! For students wishing to take their instrument home at the end of the week, they must also return the Instrument Check Out permission slip, signed. Permission slips will be available for parents to sign at Meet the Teachers Night on Thursday.

Any students who have not turned in their instrument selection notecatchers must do so by Wednesday, 9/18, if they wish to select their instruments!

All students must find a protest song and bring it to class--on the back of their booklet they should fill out: (1) title of song, (2) artist, (3) the social issue or movement the song connects to, and (4) whether they think the song is effective.

Students who did not finish their blues lyrics rough draft (p. 4 of the blues lyrics packet) must do so by Thursday this week!
