  • Final 7th Grade Remix Projects For their final remix project this year in remote learning, 7th grade students selected a topic, cut clips from a variety of songs and speeches, recorded their own clips, incorporated pre-recorded instrument samples, and assembled them into a remix. Musician of the Every-Few-Weeks

  • Sudan Archives, "My Strings Propagate Through Space and Time" Last month singer, violinist, and songwriter Brittney Parks dropped her debut album "Athena" and I can't stop listening to it. Her singing is R&B and hip-hop influenced, her violin playing builds from Sudanese fiddling in West Africa, and like many pop musicians she uses electronics to loop and layer different sounds. Check out some live performances of her song "Confessions" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sypqygUwGio) for an amazing violin riff and "Nont for Sale" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miG6Zec0lcU) for how she fuses violin plucking, playing, and singing!

MELS Music Collective (After School)

  • No Jazz Ensemble this year :( There will be no Jazz Ensemble (MELS Music Collective) for the 2010-2021 school year. Students interested in extracurricular opportunities in music should see Mr. Shieh about groups performing outside of MELS.
